Few people from the New Jersey or the tri-state have represented the elements of hip-hop as well as Tame One. Known for both his vocal presence on the mic and his trademark graffiti, Tame One brings a classical element of style and grace to the rap music scene, and the hip-hop culture in general, that few artists can rival. During the '90's TAME ONE was part of the rap duo known as ARTIFACTS, which wrote and recorded two LP's with ATLANTIC RECORDS (1994 "Between a Rock and A Hard Place", and in 1997 "That's Them"). The first album produced multiple hits "Wrong Side of the Tracks" and even has a remix of "Come On Wit Da Git Down" which featured Busta Rhymes. The sophomore album came forward with the single "The Ultimate" which was included in the "High School High" movie soundtrack and earned a gold record. Once Tame went solo, his first project was a single with 2Pac's crew member Fatal Hussein on the album titled "Ghetto Star" (released on Relativity Records). Next up was a Redman executive produced underground LP by Govna Mattic which Tame was featured in the song "Hell Up in Newark". Fat Beats in NYC then released "Trife Type Times" along with "Torture Chamber". Rawkus Records followed up with "Hip Hop for Respect" which featured Tame on the song "A Tree Never Grown". This album included Mos Def, Rah Digga, Kool G. Rap and Common. The money earned from this LP went to the family of Amadou Diallo. Tame then created a buzz in the industry with his own record label, Boom Skwad Records by releasing a three song EP which included "Crazee" flip side "Doin' Me" and "Boom Skwad on Attack". Production on "Crazee" is by Xing 'N Fox, "Doin Me" was produced by Boom Skwad's own DJ and graphic artist - Porno, and "Boom Skwad On Attack" by DJ RhinoCMZ. Although this was a very limited release, it did chart well for college and radio stations and received positive press over the internet and the July/August 2001 issue of URB magazine. Besides being interviewed and reviewed by SOURCE magazine at various periods of Tame's career, Tame is cited in the Ego Trip publication "Book of Rap Lists'. In fact, surf the internet for Tame One and over 50 websites will come up with information, reviews, or comments about his talents and background. Eastern Conference Records released "When Rappers Attack", that label also put out numerous albums featuring Tame in 2005 - the list includes - The Weatherman LP titled "The Conspiracy", "Waterworld" (with Cage and Tame as the Leak Brothers), Tame stepped in on "Fighter Pilots" on Vast Aires LP "Best Damn Rap Show", also released in 2005 are the High and Mighty LP's (12th Man), Compilation albums volumes (2,3,4, and 5), and "Eastern Conference All Stars". Also in 2005 Tame completed voice-over work for Nickelodeon television for a commercial advertising the "Men In Black" cartoon series. In 2006 Eastern Conference Records released Tame's next album in 2006 - "O .G. Bobby Johnson". Showing off his versatility and finesse with whatever beat is thrown at him, Tame walked on water thru "Spazmatic", an LP released at the beginning of 2006 by Ahead Recordings and produced by Xing 'N Fox. Check out "Da Muzik" a hip hop dance groove. Also this year Tame dropped the intro song called "Dreamz" on the U.S. independent movie soundtrack " G " which was released in May of 2006 (an Andrew Lauren production). Another indie film (this one out of Germany) detailing graffiti artists exercising their craft (Florian and Silke) was released by Goldkind Film Production in May of 2006. The film is called "Wholetrain" and Tame's song is "Graffic Traffic" at a crucial point in the film. Collaboration with Jersey hip hop heads "Dusted Dons" generated the album "Slow Suicide Stimulus" released in June of 2006, and the 12 inch single "Roll Up" featuring Grandmaster Caz (of the Cold Crush Brothers). Tame has performed throughout the U.S., east and west coasts, and recently held the stage internationally in such locales as Portugal, Spain, Hawaii, Germany, Amsterdam, London and more. |
